Spike Explained – Theme Park Definition

A spike is a term for a vertical or steeply inclined section of track on a shuttle coaster that ends abruptly. The train travels up the spike until it loses momentum, then falls back down in the opposite direction. Spikes are common features on launched shuttle coasters.
