Bowtie
A double-inversion element where two mirrored half-loops form a bowtie shape — two inversions without a direction change.
Coaster Elements
A bowtie is a double-inversion element consisting of two mirrored half-loops connected at their shared peak. Unlike the batwing (which includes a directional reversal), the bowtie exits in the same general heading it entered. When viewed from above, the track outline resembles a bow tie. The element produces two smooth inversions in rapid succession while maintaining the overall direction of travel.
Bowties are relatively rare in the global coaster inventory and are found primarily on certain Vekoma and custom installations. Despite a superficially similar appearance to the batwing, the absence of a direction change produces a noticeably different ride sensation — the bowtie feels more like a flowing pair of loops rather than the twisting, reversing complexity of a batwing. The distinction between a bowtie and a batwing is a frequent reference point in enthusiast discussions about inversion taxonomy.
