Enterprise Explained – Theme Park Definition

The Enterprise is a flat ride in which gondolas are arranged around the circumference of a large rotating ring. As the ring accelerates, centrifugal force pins riders firmly into their seats; once at full speed, the entire ring tilts progressively to a near-vertical position, leaving riders rotating overhead.

Originated by Huss Rides and subsequently produced by multiple other manufacturers, the Enterprise became a staple of both permanent parks and travelling fairs from the 1970s onward. Its dramatic vertical tilt makes it one of the most visually striking flat ride silhouettes.
