FastPass

Disney's former free priority queue system, active 1999–2020, replaced by the paid Lightning Lane in 2021.

Wait Times

FastPass+ (originally launched as FastPass in 1999) was Disney's free priority queue reservation system, allowing guests to book timed return windows for attractions at no additional cost. At Walt Disney World, guests could book up to three FastPass+ reservations per day in advance via the My Disney Experience app, and additional passes one at a time on the day. The system was available at all four Walt Disney World parks and Disneyland Paris.

FastPass+ was suspended during the COVID-19 closure in March 2020 and was never reinstated. In late 2021, Disney replaced it with the paid Lightning Lane system — a decision that remains one of the most discussed and debated changes in recent Disney history, because it converted a genuinely free guest benefit into a paid service. Understanding FastPass remains useful context for reading older trip reports, planning guides written before 2021, and understanding why long-time Disney fans feel so strongly about the transition.
