Mobile Ordering Explained – Theme Park Definition
A feature in park apps allowing guests to order and pay for food in advance and skip the counter queue.
Also known as: mobile order · app ordering · app order · mobile food order
Dining
Mobile ordering allows guests to browse a restaurant menu, place and pay for an order, and select a pickup time window directly through the park's official smartphone app — skipping the standard counter queue entirely. Disney popularised the system at its quick-service restaurants; Universal, Six Flags, Merlin parks, and many other major operators have since introduced their own versions. When the selected pickup window arrives, guests receive a notification to head to the restaurant's dedicated mobile order pickup counter, where food is ready. Mobile ordering can save significant time at busy dining periods, particularly the midday lunch rush. The system requires a charged smartphone and reliable in-park connectivity, which is not always consistent throughout large parks.
