Splashdown Explained – Theme Park Definition
A splashdown is the moment a boat or car plunges into a shallow channel of water at the bottom of a drop, using the water both to slow the vehicle and to launch a dramatic curtain of spray. On water coasters and log flumes it is the signature soak, and designers tune the depth and shape of the trough to control how drenched riders — and onlookers on nearby bridges — get. A well-placed splashdown is as much a spectator attraction as a ride element.
