Strata Coaster Explained – Theme Park Definition

A strata coaster is a roller coaster that reaches a height of 400 feet (122 meters) or more. This classification was originally coined by Cedar Point for the opening of Top Thrill Dragster. Strata coasters are extremely rare due to their immense cost and engineering complexity. As of today, only a handful have ever been built, including Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure.
