Troika Explained – Theme Park Definition
Also known as: Huss Troika
The Troika is a flat ride model by Huss Rides in which three arms extend from a central hub; each arm carries a gondola with several cars that can rotate. As the main platform revolves, the gondolas also rotate and the cars spin, creating multiple simultaneous rotation axes. The resulting motion is highly unpredictable and disorienting.
The Troika was a popular addition to European amusement parks and fairs from the 1970s onward. Its three-fold symmetry gives it a distinctive visual appearance. Variants and imitations from other manufacturers are sometimes known as Trabant or Walzer.
