Ranger Explained – Theme Park Definition

Also known as: Huss Ranger · Viking ship · pirate ship

The Ranger is Huss Rides' swinging ship model: a large gondola shaped like a Viking longship or pirate vessel that swings back and forth in an arc, building progressively higher with each swing. Riders sit along the sides of the ship, facing inward. At full swing the gondola reaches high angles, producing strong negative G-forces at the apex.

Swinging ship rides are produced by many manufacturers worldwide under various names (Viking, Pirate Ship, Sea Monster). The Ranger is among the most widely installed Huss flat ride models, found in permanent parks and on travelling fairs across Europe and beyond.
