Rider Switch
A system letting accompanying adults take turns riding while the other waits with a child who cannot meet the height requirement.
Wait Times
Rider Switch (also called Child Swap) is a system at most major theme parks allowing groups to take turns on a ride when one member — typically a young child who doesn't meet the height requirement — cannot participate. The process: one adult rides with the group while the other waits at a designated area near the ride exit with the non-riding child. When the first adult returns, the waiting adult can board the ride immediately, bypassing the standby queue entirely.
At Disney parks the system is called Rider Switch; at Universal it is Child Swap. The waiting adult essentially receives a Lightning Lane or Express return equivalent for free. On a busy day this benefit is substantial — the second adult skips what might be a 60–90-minute standby wait. Always ask a ride attendant at the entrance to activate it rather than discovering the system exists only after your group has already queued.
