S-Hill Explained – Theme Park Definition
An S-hill is an airtime hill built with an S-shaped curve, so as the train crests and floats it is also pushed laterally to one side and then the other. The result mixes vertical airtime with a sideways snap that catches riders off guard, and it is a hallmark of modern wooden and hybrid coasters that aim for unpredictable, "out-of-control" pacing. It is closely related to the wave turn, which leans the airtime fully onto its side.
