Bunny Hop
A series of small, quick airtime hills near the end of a ride producing gentle floater airtime as the train loses speed.
Coaster Elements
Bunny hops are a series of small, rapid hills placed toward the end of a coaster layout when the train has shed most of its kinetic energy. At this reduced speed, each hill generates gentle floater airtime — a soft, rhythmic floating sensation rather than the intense ejector airtime of the faster hills earlier in the layout. The name reflects the light, bouncing motion that resembles a rabbit's series of hops.
Bunny hops are a classic design feature on hyper coasters, giga coasters, and wooden coasters, providing a lighthearted and energetic final flourish before the brake run. They require relatively little vertical height to be effective at low speeds, making them an efficient use of the final terrain. Many enthusiasts consider a well-executed bunny hop sequence a mark of thoughtful layout design — squeezing maximum enjoyment out of the dying moments of a ride rather than simply ending on a brake run.
