Ejector Airtime Explained – Theme Park Definition
Intense negative G-forces that aggressively thrust riders from their seat, held in place only by the lap bar.
Coaster Elements
Ejector airtime describes the most intense form of negative G-force, where the coaster's trajectory departs so abruptly from free fall that riders are thrown powerfully from their seats — held in only by the lap bar. The name reflects the sensation: it feels as though the seat is actively trying to eject you. This is distinct from the gentle, prolonged floating of floater airtime; ejector is sharp, sudden, and can verge on violent if the transition into it is abrupt.
Ejector airtime is most commonly associated with RMC hybrid coasters, certain Intamin hypers, and modern wooden coasters with steep, parabolic hills. Enthusiasts describe the best ejector moments as the highlight of a ride experience — a brief, heart-stopping instant of true weightlessness before the track pulls you back. Untamed at Walibi Holland, Wildfire at Kolmården, and Steel Vengeance at Cedar Point are frequently cited as delivering some of the world's most intense ejector sequences. The intensity is one of the primary reasons RMC coasters have achieved cult status in the enthusiast community.
