Water Ride Explained – Theme Park Definition
Also known as: water attraction · aquatic ride · wet ride
A water ride is any attraction where water is a central part of the experience — either the vehicle travels through a water channel or water is used as a deliberate effect. The three most common types are log flumes, where boats travel down a trough with a final plunge drop; river rapids rides, where circular rafts spin through turbulent artificial white water; and splash battles, where guests use water cannons to spray each other and bystanders. Water rides typically have low height requirements and very broad guest appeal. In summer heat they can generate extremely long queues. Capacity varies significantly: river rapids rides tend to have high hourly throughput while log flumes can be somewhat lower.
