People Mover Explained – Theme Park Definition

A people mover is a low-speed, high-capacity transport attraction: an unbroken chain of vehicles moving at walking pace, often on an elevated beam, with a moving-platform station so it never has to stop. In a park it does double duty — genuine transport between areas, and a relaxed overview ride that shows off the land and, frequently, the interiors of other attractions.

The Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover at Magic Kingdom is the best-known survivor, gliding through the Space Mountain show building on its circuit. The linear-induction drive it uses was later licensed for real urban transit systems. Universal’s Villain-Con Minion Blast adapts the same idea to a moving walkway.
