POV

POV (Point of View) refers to on-ride video footage recorded from the perspective of a front-row rider, with a camera typically mounted to the train or a helmet rig. POV videos are one of the most popular content formats in the theme park community and are widely used by prospective visitors to preview a coaster before travelling to a park. A good POV shows every element, drop, and inversion in sequence, communicating the pace, intensity, and layout of a ride in a way that no verbal description can match.

Park operators sometimes produce official POVs for promotional purposes; more often they are filmed by enthusiasts, media, or during special guest events. YouTube hosts tens of thousands of coaster POV videos covering installations worldwide. The term is also used more broadly for any first-person perspective footage of theme park attractions, including dark rides and water rides. For a new coaster opening, the release of official POV footage is often a major community event that drives significant viewer interest.
